Finding Nemo

It’s ironic that I have finally decided to end my hibernation while I am in a cold country like Finland. Maybe it’s the zeal to discover something that I lost or may be because its the 27th of May, a day which will always be etched in my heart (thank you so much for making it so special) that finally I have been able to win a war raging since the last year.

Finding Nemo: There was a little boy whose name was Marlin. When he was in class 6 his wonderful teacher, Sarika Didi gifted him with a baby fish called Nemo. Marlin used to feed Nemo with new words, short stories and poems every day and soon Nemo became healthy and strong. Nemo used to love Marlin’s freshly cooked stories and poems and his appetite grew exponentially. Nemo was the apple of Marlin’s eyes and they enjoyed each other’s company immensely. They used to play together for hours and were inseparable. But their happy days were short lived.

In a country where every kid is either destined to become a doctor or an engineer, Marlin had no choice but to pick either one. He chose to prepare himself for the battle of IIT-JEE. Busy with his training, Marlin hardly got time to even see Nemo, who began to grow weaker with every passing day. Once in a blue moon, Marlin would meet with Nemo and console him saying that once he had won the battle, everything would be alright. On the 18th of June, 2004 the battle of IIT came to an end and Marlin was one of the few who had survived and succeeded in getting through the heavily guarded gates of IIT. Marlin was on top of the world as he had all that he has aspired for. The ecstasy and jubilation gave way to something completely unexpected and unfortunate.

Lethargy or peace as it was better known was notorious for alluring people into a world of false bliss and trance, and Marlin soon became an easy prey for the predator. Over the next two years Marlin had got so badly addicted to peace that he completely forgot about Nemo’s existence. Nemo seeing no hope went back home, hoping for some change in Marlin’s behavior when he’d come during the vacations. The influence was just too strong and Marlin never recovered till one day in May’07, he got a call from his home, his mother telling him over the phone, “Nemo’s gone and only you are responsible for it”.

Marlin realizing his folly, understood what a fool he had been all this time to have let lethargy control him. He had lost one of his most prized possessions and it was high time he did something about it. Old habits die hard and the only way to get out was to crush the demon.

Then started the war, which first took place first in the US where Marley lost miserably. In the ensuing months, it was an uphill climb and all his efforts went in vain. Finally, when IIT got over Marlin saw a ray of hope and challenged the beast to wage a battle in the beautiful country of lakes, Finland. With Mother Nature by his side, he fought with great vigor and determination and finally overcame the beast.

But winning the battle was only half of the work done.

Marlin would soon be embarking on his quest to find Nemo, and travel by air, land and water to the various corners of the mystic lands of Europe to fulfill his dream of reviving his long lost quality.
