A pretty eventful day today. things happened and arrived. After sleeping rather late trying to complete the projects for the next 15 months, woke up late. There's a thing about getting late and perhaps I have earned a PhD in the same. The same old feeling of rush coupled with anxiety and frustration at oneself but misdirected at others though did not take place today. It was an event where I, for a change was not a performer but a spectator. Having attended seminars in the past and the lack of utility that one derives after it gets over is astounding. None the less, last year on the last day I saw myself registering for the TiECon. Having become a member of TiE a couple of months back and putting it mildly, the registration fee could have been used in 100 other better places, I had pretty low expectations from the event. Not because of the fact that the event was being held in kolkata for the first time, not because it was kolkata, but primarily because networking (generic) is highly over-rated. It's like going to a candy store, getting that rush but once you're out of the place, the entire thing goes away in a jiffy. Reached the event about an hour late and saw some reporters running after some IT minister. Reporters like to run after three things I guess - politicians, movie stars and controversies. Anyway so when I reached the place was buzz with activity and people were busy introducing themselves to each other, sharing information about work and perhaps that illusive opportunity to strike something conclusive, tangible and convertible. Anyway, in jumped in and took to the networking process like a fish to water. Having very low IQ (inhibition quotient), I find it pretty easy to strike a conversation and get the bhaat session on with people. Met some really good people along with some old acquaintances, a very irritating professor from Iit along with some stud seniors who had pot loads of good advice to share. Met up with a pretty charming lady as well who was into a different form of theatre along with some investors who apparently knew more about my line of work than what I had in the last five years without having nothing much to do with education. Anyway one shouldn't judge, only observe, perceive and then choose what to absorb and what to not. Met with an old relative as well who had run away from home when she was 20 and now has become a millionaire in the US courtesy her cosmetics company. All in all a pretty satisfying day, especially getting to feel normal amidst a lot of dreamers, knowing that everyone at some point in time faces the same set of problems, tough decisions to make and the general principles that apply everywhere. A long way to go towards achieving what I have set out to. One step at a time, it will happen.
My first post from my new iPad. Bought something for myself after a pretty long time. Three cheers to Steve jobs! Entrepreneurs rule, we only live once and got to make the most of it. Got to make it big !
